My personal solution for beautiful and healthy skin

I barely grew out adolescence when I started to use various skin care creams on my face due to the fear of aging. First I tried my mother’s skin care cream, which was a blubbery skin care cream for mature skin. But it cleared up soon that this is not ideal for me. Then I stood for a long time in front of the hundreds of lacquers on drugstores’ shelves, where I choose the jar most seen in advertisements.

I used the cream which was said as a light moisturizer cream daily, but somehow I had a feeling that it flow down my face. My skin glitters brightly, greasily. Not for me.

Many years later, after trying more trendy creams and after long investigations I know what my skin needs.
I may say it from my experience: the beauty comes from within. The exterior care is not enough if we do not feed our skin, hair and fingernails from within. The skin is needed to be fed by nourishment vitamins, minerals, essential fats, trace elements and the right amount of clear water. If all these do not get into the organism, our body gives us a “something is wrong” sign through our skin, hair and fingernails.

After I realized this and I examined my lifestyle, nutrition, medicines and cosmetics I used that far, I realized that I need a complex change. As a primary task I did a detoxification and tried to reform my nourishment. It was not easy to renounce candies and finesses fried in oil. But I believed that I’m on the right way. I stopped taking contraceptive pills in order for my hormonal system to work naturally (sweet little drawbacks are my little son and daughter :)). It was not surprising that after all this changes my face looked like as a teenager’s ass. Ugly pimples appeared on it. Luckily, this time I still believed that this is just a sign of detoxification, and this will not expire with using super-creams. I had to be patient and make this process easier only with natural substances.
In the first period, the hardest was to be patient. I was expecting, like everybody is, fast results. Meanwhile I was constantly encouraging myself: it is necessary to pay the price for beauty. Well, I paid the price. Finally, I can say it was worth it.

After surviving all those detoxification effects, which made my skin fat and lack of water, I was thinking about how to nourish and how to preserve youth. I was searching for the right cream, but I did not fell into the trap to believe adverts’ magic-words and the decorative facts. With deep investigation and with an inner hunch I searched for natural substances. This way I found shea butter, coconut butter, cocoa butter and other amazing natural gifts. The cream made from the African karité tree’s fruit (shea butter) drinks up fast, and does not leave a luminous trace on the face. It made my skin softer than a baby bottom. And it does all these without artificial additives and petroleum derivatives. Of course, I do not use shea butter only for my face. I use it for my whole body.

As years go by, I realized that even the best creams will not be effective either against a sagging face or against creases. After a little investigation I found a solution for this problem too. Correct nourishment using natural cosmetics and, what is maybe more important, being active and practicing healthy lifestyle is the key. We can go into fitness centers on every corner and can choose from different forms of body exercises. So the question arises: if I should train my body muscles, why shouldn’t I train my face muscles too? There are more than 200 muscles on the face and if we do not use them or do not use them correctly they will sag. Hanging eyelids take their shape, the slack cheeks and the double chin appears.

Even the most efficient natural creams will not be enough by itself to keep my face youthful if I don’t train my face muscles. After a little search I found the ‘face gymnastics’, which was developed especially to train face muscles. For man or woman in their 30’s, it is recommended to train the face muscles to make sure the face keeps its tightness and elasticity. With the regular application of the face gymnastics, aged ladies can rejuvenate themselves and people in their thirties can keep their tight, youthful face. I go to the face gymnastics lessons two times a week, and I received the first feedbacks after 2-3 months. Those, who didn’t know my little secret, used to ask: Your face look so beautiful, were you at the cosmetics? Or: Your face is so smooth. Did you take a good rest during the weekend?

And finally, when laziness overcomes me, I go to a good facial massage. Beside a pleasant and relaxing music, the masseur gives my face muscles a workout. After this I’m spectacularly refreshed and relaxed.

Essential Oils for Skin

Essential Oils in Homemade Creams

Essential oils portion shouldn’t exceed 2,5 % of cream total, but if you are using it while pregnant it is recommended not to use more than 1 % essential oil dilution.

For easier orientation, if you put 5 drops of essential oil on 1 oz. of base oils or butters you will get approximately 1% dilution, while putting 12 drops on 1 oz. of fats will give approximately 2,5 % dilution.

And be aware that essential oils should never be applied to the skin undiluted.

Essential Oils During the Pregnancy

Be aware that some essential oils, which can be very beneficial in some other circumstances, should be avoided during the pregnancy.

First trimester is the most sensitive period and some sources advise not to use any essential oil during this time.  The simple solution for keeping your skin healthy and well moisturized even in this period is to use pure unrefined shea or cocoa butter or make creams based on them without adding any essential oils. After the first trimester, some essential oils are believed to be completely safe to use in creams for your skin during the rest of the pregnancy. But whatever information we find in books or on internet, it is always good idea to consult a doctor before we start to use them.

For easier orientation, here is the list of essential oils best to avoid during a pregnancy: Angelica, Aniseed, Basil, Bay, Camphor, Carrot seed, Cedarwood, Celery, Chamomile, Cinnamon, Cumin, Cypress, Dill, Fennel, Galbanum, Geranium, Guaiacwood, Jasmine, Juniper, Lavender, Lavender Spike, Marjoram, Melissa, Myrrh, Nutmeg, Origanum, Parsley, Peppermint, Rose, Rosemary, Sage, Santolina, Spearmint, Tarragon, Thyme, and Yarrow.
