Shea Butter Cocoa Butter Recipe

This is shea butter cocoa butter recipe with geranium oil for cream that is very good moisturizer and could be helpful for dehydrated or sun damaged skin, eczema and breast pain associated with the menstrual cycle.

What do you need?

  • 4 teaspoon Shea butter
  • 2 teaspoon Cocoa butter
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin Grapeseed oil
  • 1 teaspoon Avocado oil
  • 20 drops Evening Primrose oil
  • 15 drops Geranium oil
  • electric hand mixer
  • 4 oz. empty clean jar

Melt shea and cocoa butter using a double pot. Put it out from the steam and let it cool down on a room temperature. Add other oils. Mix it with a mixer for 5 minutes. Put it in the fridge (not in deep fridge!) for few minutes, and mix it again. Don’t leave it in the fridge for a long time, because it will be too hard for mixing.

Put it in a clean jar and let it cool down on the room temperature. This cream has very nice scent due to Cocoa butter and Geranium oil.

Shea Butter Vanilla Cream Recipe

This shea butter vanilla cream enriched with Lavender oil has amazing natural scent. It is very quickly absorbed because there is no addition of other base oils. You can experiment with different quantities of Vanilla and Lavender to achieve a scent you prefer. Small drawback of this recipe is little bit spicy price of good quality Vanilla extract.

What do you need?

  • 2 oz. unrefined Shea butter
  • 5 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops Vanilla extract
  • 2 oz. or bigger empty clean jar

You don’t have to melt shea butter at all and this is the method i prefer. Make sure unrefined shea butter is on a room temperature before you start. Mash it with a fork and add essential oils. Mash it again a little bit. Mix it with a hand mixer for few minutes and you are done!

Alternatively, you can do the same cream using following method. Melt unrefined shea butter on the steam using double pot.  Put it out of the steam and let it cool down a little bit. Add Vanilla extract and Lavender essential oil and mix it. Put it in a clean jar and let it cool down on the room temperature.

I have a question, in the Shea Butter Vanilla Cream Recipe
said: Vanilla extract. I want to know if this refers
about the extract made with a alcohol (brandy or vodka) with Vanilla beans. Or if this refers about an oily extract…?
    Thanks again!

    • It is not the same vanilla extract you use for flavoring food and drink. It is special oil used in fragrance industry. I think it isn’t real ‘essential’ oil, but you can find it in the stores with essential oils. It should be something like Vanilla Absolut Oil described on Mountain Rose Herbs site.
